my music biography

I started playing piano at age six. It became my number one hobby, and my passion. I first learned to play by ear and then by reading notes. I played in church many times as a child, and I never grew old of the feeling of satisfaction that I would receive every time I tickled the ivories. It was my favorite thing to do, and I did it all the time.

I have small hands, which I originally saw as a disadvantage, but I have been stretching my hands to the limits for years. For the majority of my musical life, I accompanied my sisters when they sang in church or school, as well as others in the same setting. In elementary school, I played the fifth-grade graduation song. At Christmas time of the same year, I learned Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" as a Christmas gift for my uncle, as it was his favorite piece.

In seventh grade, I played at the middle school's September 11 memorial service and accompanied my junior high school choir several times with difficult songs. During high school, I was afforded opportunities that I had never had before. I took musicianship exams and went to Junior Festivals, receiving the superior rating with high honors from one of the most renowned judges there.

I participated in several five pianos ensembles, winning the highest ribbons with my team. I would participate in five pianos ensembles every day if I could. I personally think that being a member of a five pianos ensemble is an opportunity that every pianist should have. It taught me several things, such as how to focus on several techniques simultaneously. Coordinating the movement of a single piece when four other people are playing is not an easy task.

I didn't find another teacher once my last one moved to Utah, but I took what I learned and continued to challenge myself.
